I’m so excited to share this blog post with you because it is out of this world. If you haven’t been to Montana de Oro yet, you should go right away.
Montana de Oro is a wonderful California treasure. This park features rugged cliffs, secluded sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, including 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. Naturalists and backpackers enjoy the solitude and freedom found along the park’s trails. There are also mountain biking and equestrian trails. The best-known beach is Spooner’s Cove, across from the campground. The park’s name, “Mountain of Gold,” comes from the golden wildflowers that bloom in spring. Wildlife in the park includes black-tailed deer and the black oystercatcher. The park includes primitive and equestrian campsites.
Tony and Katie choose this magical place for their engagement session because their family has had a love affair with Montana de Oro for many years. This location can be a little crazy during the year but in December it is calm and quiet. At one point we took photos in the street which would be impossible during the summer. It is so relaxing to have the soft sound of waves crashing when doing photos on the beach. It truly makes me happy working in just a calming place.
Tony and Katie are so sweet together and madly in love. It made my job easy capturing how they feel about each other. Tony had on the coolest boots so of course, we had to include them in the detail shots. Clothing changes are highly recommended when moving from the hills to the beach. It can really add a different vibe to the location and give you more versatility in your love story.
